Cold Storage For Your Fur
During summer months it is important to bring your garments to Tsontos Furs in Mineola where we can store your furs in our on-premise temperature and humidity controlled vault.
Our specially designed cold storage vault prevents the fur of your garment from shedding and the leather of the skin from drying out.
We highly recommend storing your fur coat as a yearly maintenance routine to ensure many years of enjoyment!

Schedule an appointment
We love to take our time for every customer. By scheduling an appointment we can make sure that you have all the attention you deserve.
Why you should store your garment
One of the most important things you can do to take care of your fur coat is to have it professionally stored each off-season. This will keep your fur supple and sleek, protecting your investment for years to come.
Climate control
Because fur is an organic material, high temperatures can be very damaging. Our on-premise cold storage vault helps to preserve the oils and fibers in your fur garment. To keep your garment in perfect condition, our cold storage vault runs at a steady 55°F.
Insect free environment
Moths and other insects can be found in many households and they can cause serious damage to your fur garments. They are difficult to spot and when you find one, you are probably too late.

When should I bring in my fur for storage?

We recommend scheduling an appointment so we can give you and your fur garments all the attention you deserve.

Frequently asked questions

Unlike fabric storage, fur coats should never be stored in ceder closets nor should ceder blocks be placed in the closest. Ceder pulls moisture from the air and can subject your coat to dry/rot conditions.
If you own a fur coat you should avoid using mothballs or other moth proofing chemicals near it.
Because moth balls can react with moisture in the air and with the natural oils in your fur, it can cause irreparable damage to fur and leather very quickly.
Keep in mind that fur needs to breath. Never store your fur coat in a plastic bag, which prevents air from circulating and can dry out the leather. Rather, for a long term storage solution, use a professional cold storage facility like ours in Mineola.
